2008 has proved to be filled with many wonderful opportunities for the GBGVCA to showcase our noble breed. Our GBGV Presentation and Fun Match In April 2008 was a huge success and we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the PBGVCA for allowing us to partner with them and participate in the PBGVCA National and Regional Specialties in Orlando, Florida. We are continuing to work in association with the FSS Division of the American Kennel Club to keep them informed as to our activities, events and registrations. We have been very fortunate to have many invitations from local kennel clubs to set up our exhibitor’s booth for a “Meet the Breed” opportunity with the GBGV in association with an All Breed Show. We have established an Events Committee consisting of a few select GBGVCA members from across the country whose purpose will be to look for opportunities to promote our breed and assist in coordinating and managing these events. If any member has suggestions for a “Meet the Breed” opportunity with your local kennel club or dog breed association, please contact myself or any board member. In closing, I would like to extend our appreciation to Barbara Oxholm and Helen Ingher for their service on the Board of Directors of the GBGVCA. Additionally, I would like to welcome Debbie Howd, Thurmont, Maryland, as our Secretary and Barbara Pepper, Swannanoa, North Carolina, and Claire “Kitty” Steidel, Scottsdale, Arizona, as directors. By working together we will continue to establish and promote the GBGV in the US and step by step we will move closer to AKC recognition. Corey Benedict, President |
